🌿 Our Story & Homestead Mission

Located in the lush rainforest community of Fern Forest, Hawaii, Polygrove Farms is an integrated homestead and farm dedicated to sustainable agriculture, ethical pasture management, and thriving apiaries.

We strictly utilize Korean Natural Farming (KNF) principles to nurture our high-elevation soil and crops, bypassing chemical inputs in favor of indigenous microorganisms and nutrient-dense, natural amendments. Our diverse pasture-raised flock includes chickens, Runner ducks, heritage turkeys, and alert guinea fowlβ€”all thriving in the crisp Big Island rainforest air alongside our aquaculture and nursery crops.

Alongside our fresh produce and poultry, we tend honeybee colonies under our artisan brand, Hilo Hive & Flame, offering raw island honey, hand-poured beeswax candles, and natural body care, while serving our neighbors with humane bee swarm relocation.

Chickens

Ameraucana hen with fluffy cheek muffs Blue eggs

Ameraucana

The blue egg layer

If you've dreamed of opening the nesting box to find sky-blue eggs, this is your bird. Calm, friendly, and quiet, Ameraucanas are wonderful for families with keiki.

More about this breed

Developed in the United States in the 1970s to keep the famous blue-egg trait while producing a healthier, sturdier chicken, the Ameraucana earned official breed recognition in 1984. Look for their fluffy cheek muffs and small pea combs. Chicks hatch in a mix of colors, so every one is a little surprise.

One of the most famous chickens in the world: a dependable brown egg layer, hardy enough to handle just about anything. A perfect first-flock bird.

More about this breed

Developed in New England in the late 1800s as a dual-purpose bird, the Rhode Island Red often lays 5 or more eggs a week. With deep mahogany-red feathers, Reds are as pretty as they are practical: confident, easygoing foragers that love to roam the yard.

Jersey Giant

The gentle giant

The largest American chicken breed. Grown roosters can reach around 13 pounds, yet Jersey Giants are calm and gentle with people.

More about this breed

Developed in New Jersey in the late 1800s, Jersey Giants come in black and white varieties. They lay large brown eggs and make excellent meat birds too. They take a little longer to grow up than other breeds, but a Jersey Giant strutting across the yard is worth the wait.

Blue Andalusian hen with slate-blue laced feathers White eggs

Andalusian

The blue beauty from Spain

Slate-blue feathers edged in darker lacing make this one of the most striking chickens you'll ever see. A warm-climate breed that's a natural fit for Hawaii.

More about this breed

Originally from the Andalusia region of Spain, Andalusians are lively, alert foragers. The hens lay large white eggs and rarely go broody, so they keep on laying. Because of how the blue color is inherited, chicks can hatch blue, black, or a speckled white called "splash," so every hatch is a little different.
